Light case verification results
Two-week exposure to the Light case technology (approx. 3000 lx, mEDI 2800 lx) in a home environment of the participants resulted in a significant reduction in depressive states, faster falling asleep (subjective sleep latency significantly reduced) and better sleep quality. The participants also reported more frequent acrophasia of the circadian rhythm of locomotor activity during phototherapy than at the beginning of the study. At the same time, subjectively assessed mood and well-being improved, with participants reporting a better psychological state after phototherapy compared to the initial measurement on a self-assessment scale.
Results of the Light sauna verification
Improved affective experience and mood
After two weeks of daily 30-minute exposure, a change in the electrical activity of the brain was observed, mainly in the part involved in emotion processing. In this context, a reduction in the intensity of experiencing negative emotions was achieved in both healthy and clinical populations, and these findings were evident in both the summer and winter seasons.
Positive effect on circadian rhythms
The Light sauna stabilised the circadian rhythms of the study participants, both physical activity and melatonin levels. At the same time, an increase in nocturnal melatonin secretion was observed in healthy subjects compared to control measurements.
Improved cognitive functions
Exposure to 8000 lx light improved performance on the Number repetition test immediately after one exposure, even with a 2-week interval from daily exposure, where the participants were able to recollect more numbers in a row after phototherapy than before.
