At T. G. Masaryk Primary School in Kutná Hora, students in the 6th and 9th grades are learning about the impact and effects of light on the human body. Thanks to the enthusiasm and activity of the students and teacher Barbora Tvrdíková, Spectrasol’s procognitive lighting has become a spontaneous topic in local education. The school is also working on the possibility of equipping its classrooms with our lighting.
As part of the health education course, 6th and 9th grade students test the Vitae bulb and red glasses, thus connecting their theoretical and practical knowledge about light and light hygiene. They learn about quality sleep, blue light, circadian rhythms, and other topics related to light. They were so excited that they created a separate study project on procognitive lighting and researched until they learned about our work. “The principal contacted us, saying that the students and the school are interested in the topic of light, and we arranged a meeting to discuss the possibility of implementing Spectrasol lighting in the classrooms. This is still being worked on, but we are happy with this pleasant collaboration and fully support the enthusiasm for this topic,” comments Spectrasol project manager David Piller.
In the future, the primary school would like to equip the entire school with procognitive lighting. “In our school’s vision, we have the term healthy school. It started to make sense for us to take steps towards implementing healthy lighting to support the study and work of our students, teachers, administrative staff, in short, everyone at the school,” explains T. G. Masaryk Primary School teacher Mgr. Bc Barbora Tvrdíková. The school is currently in the phase of securing funds for the pilot project. If successful, we could launch the project in 2024.
