WELL points for Full-Spectrum Lighting

29.01.2025 | 1 minute of reading | Martina Kemrová

If you’re interested in the relationship between people’s health and the environment in which they live or work, you have probably already come across the international certification system WELL. It is a prestigious building certification focused on the quality of the indoor environment, awarded by the international organization International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).

A number of WELL projects are already appearing in the Czech Republic, particularly within the reconstruction and construction of office buildings. The WELL certification, developed by experts and scientists, provides a comprehensive look at the indoor environment and its impact on humans. This system complements other certification systems such as LEED and BREEAM, which focus on the sustainability of buildings. WELL certification is awarded to projects that not only minimize environmental impact but, most importantly, consider the health, productivity, and comfort of the people who use the buildings.

WELL scoring for the indoor environment focuses on 7 aspects that directly influence employee productivity and health. Lighting and its quality are one of these aspects. The certification methodology recommends full-spectrum circadian lighting and awards points for it. This is yet another piece of evidence in favor of full-spectrum artificial light, confirming its clear meaningful application in interiors. You can find more about the certification here.
