FAQ/Glossary

How does photobiomodulation work, and why don’t regular LEDs regenerate the retina?

Light is not just a source of information for the body; it is also energy that influences cellular processes. This phenomenon is called photobiomodulation. The key role is played by the red and near-infrared (NIR) part of the spectrum (above 650 nm), which can penetrate tissues and stimulate mitochondria in cells to produce energy (ATP) and promote regeneration.

Physical imbalance of standard LEDs:

Standard LED technology emits virtually no energy in this regenerative red range. On the other hand, it produces an excess of high-energy blue light. This creates a dangerous physical imbalance: the retina is stressed by oxidative damage from so-called harmful blue light (HBL) but receives no compensatory energy for regeneration that sunlight would naturally provide.

Spectrasol: Active eye protection through the physics of light

Spectrasol technology corrects this imbalance. We consciously integrate a deep red component into our spectrum, called Deep Red, reaching key wavelengths up to 670 nm. Thanks to our second patent, this ensures that retinal cells receive not only visual signals but also the energy needed for repair and regeneration. Our lighting thus acts as a preventive shield against digital eye strain and vision degradation, supporting your health and vitality over the long term.
