Term HCL (Human Centric Lighting) has become a trend in interior lighting in recent years. Most manufacturers use this term to offer luminaires that can change the correlated color temperature (tunable white) from warm to cold. While this is a step in the right direction regarding the non-visual effects of light on the body, it is insufficient from a physical and biological perspective. Changing the color of the light does not address the properties and quality of the spectral composition, which is crucial for biological effects.
Fundamental difference in approach:
- Standard HCL: Changes only the visual shade of white (CCT). Even if the luminaire shines “cold,” it may still lack the key cyan component for biological activation and may still have a dangerous blue peak. Thus, the “packaging” changes, but the “content” remains physically and biologically incorrect.
- Spectrasol Procognitive Lighting: We do not just address color, but primarily the spectral power distribution (SPD)âits fullness and continuity, i.e., maximum similarity to natural sunlight. Our technology ensures that at every moment of the day, you receive the correct dose of melanopic energy (for the circadian system) and regenerative deep red components.
While standard HCL merely mimics the color of daylight, Spectrasol faithfully mimics its biological essence. This is why we speak of the energy of the sun, rather than just a change in atmosphere. The result is a demonstrably higher impact on productivity, cognitive performance, vitality, and, above all, health.
