MUDr. Kateřina Lejhancová, Ph.D. Pediatric Clinic in Pardubice is among modern private practices focused on comprehensive care for children from birth up to 19 years. Long-standing professional experience, a human approach to patients, and an emphasis on the quality of the environment play an important role. The effort to improve daily conditions not only for doctors and nurses but also for the patients themselves led to the decision to implement full-spectrum lighting.
The main motivation was the need for natural light during examinations, accurate color rendering when assessing skin changes, and at the same time, reducing eye strain during long working days. This proved particularly crucial in a clinic with limited access to daylight.
An indirect linear full-spectrum pro-cognitive Spectrasol lighting was installed, which mimics natural daylight while being gentle on the eyes.
The resulting effect exceeded the client’s expectations. The indirect lighting creates an evenly illuminated space with minimal shadows, allowing comfortable work throughout the day. Dr. Kateřina Lejhancová describes a significant reduction in fatigue and improved ability to concentrate.
“Indirect lighting significantly reduces eye strain, but most importantly, it keeps a person feeling as if they are working outside, in the sun. Compared to traditional fluorescent lighting, I don’t feel a lack of daylight during the day. Certainly, the lighting conditions are better for both medical and nursing work with patients,” explains Dr. Lejhancová.
Dr. Lejhancová especially recommends pro-cognitive lighting for clinics with limited access to natural daylight. The light is soft, non-glare, and creates a calmer environment. The clinic does not feel “hospital-like” but rather a welcoming space that is better for both healthcare staff and young patients.
