New Research Data Speaks Clearly: Full-Spectrum LED Lighting Reduces Fatigue and Enhances Cognitive Performance

A new Chinese scientific study took a detailed look at what happens to our bodies and brains under different types of ceiling lighting. Over a period of nine days, researchers monitored 12 volunteers while they worked and measured their cognitive performance, eye fatigue, and heart rate variability. The result? An illuminance level of 500 lx proved to be ideal. At this level, participants improved their reaction times in working memory tests by 6.2% while also demonstrating the lowest physiological fatigue and the highest perceived comfort.

However, lux levels alone are not enough—the key factor is the spectrum of the emitted light. While conventional LED lighting with an aggressive blue peak and missing spectral components consistently caused fatigue, full-spectrum daylight LED (DLED) came remarkably close to natural sunlight. The study confirmed that high-quality DLED with a full spectrum and excellent uniformity can effectively replace natural daylight indoors in terms of both visual performance and psychological well-being.

These scientific findings accurately describe the principles on which we build Spectrasol full-spectrum lighting. Our goal is not simply to provide enough light for work, but to simulate the biological effects of sunlight directly inside buildings. We do not bring only lux levels into offices, but a complete, healthy spectrum filled with solar energy that has been shown to protect vision, reduce fatigue, and naturally support productivity, mood, and vitality.
