Hostivice Primary School is a partner school of the Faculty of Education at Charles University, with a capacity of approximately 900 students and 130 employees. The school bases its decisions on modern and meaningful education and a high-quality environment. It actively seeks innovative solutions that support children’s motivation, comfort, and excellent learning conditions.

Project Brief

The original lighting at Hostivice Primary School consumed 163 MWh of electricity annually and had an unsuitable spectral composition. The goal of the modernization was to replace the lighting system with energy-efficient lighting (approximately 60% savings) while also providing healthy lighting that would reduce eye strain, improve readability of the board, and create optimal conditions for concentration throughout the school day.

Project Objectives

Supporting health and concentration: Bringing artificial lighting closer to natural daylight to improve the mental performance of students and teachers.
Energy efficiency: Achieving a significant reduction in operating costs without the need for subsidies.
Smooth implementation: Carrying out extensive installation work during weekends and school holidays without disrupting classes.

Solution Description and Technology Used

A total of 1,224 new LED luminaires were installed throughout the school complex. In teaching and working areas (36 regular classrooms), the school uses 448 Spectrasol full-spectrum pro-cognitive luminaires. The general contractor for the project, with a total value of CZK 4.46 million, was the Veolia Group.
