In 2024, the Grammar School and Secondary Vocational School of Health and Economics Vyškov underwent partial reconstruction, which also included the modernization of lighting in selected classrooms. The school principal, RNDr. Václav Klement, opted for maximum quality – not only with regard to energy efficiency, but also with an emphasis on the biological and cognitive effects of light.
From ordinary light to a pro-cognitive solution
On the recommendation of experts, the school management was introduced to the concept of pro-cognitive lighting, which positively influences concentration, alertness, and the overall well-being of students and teachers. Thanks to the support of the founder, the city, and the region, it was possible to carry out the project at top quality. A total of 71 Spectrasol INO SCHOOL M fixtures were installed in the physics and biology classrooms, laboratories, and staff room.
The difference is visible at first sight
According to the school principal, RNDr. Václav Klement, the change for the better is undeniable: “I can responsibly say that both students and teachers agree that they feel better in classrooms with the new type of lighting. And if they could influence the choice of lighting for other areas of the school, they would vote for pro-cognitive lighting.”
“I myself am a physics teacher and I know something about the role and function of light. In a newly lit classroom, I teach a physics seminar – and teaching there is excellent. The difference is visible at first glance, I feel as if I were under the open sky. Moreover, we can compare different types of lighting – LED, old fluorescent lamps, Spectrasol – in one corridor, and the difference is absolutely clear. The only limitation is the higher price, but we are very lucky that our founder understands the importance of such an investment.”
A pilot project for the whole region
The installation in Vyškov is also a pilot project of the South Moravian Region. If the evaluation is positive, the expansion of this type of lighting to other educational facilities in the region will be considered. The Grammar School and SOŠZE Vyškov also plans to continue with further phases of replacement.
