FAQ/Glossary

Why do I feel tired in the morning even after a long sleep (sleep inertia) and how does light solve it?

Many people suffer from so-called sleep inertia – a condition where they feel groggy, disoriented and without energy after waking up, even though they have slept for a sufficient amount of time. From a neurobiological point of view, the common cause is the absence of the correct starting signal for the hormonal system, specifically for cortisol.

Cortisol as a “wake-up hormone”

The morning rise in cortisol levels (Cortisol Awakening Response – CAR) is a natural and necessary process that starts the body into an active mode and “cleans” the remains of sleep fatigue. The trigger for this process is light. Not just any light, but specifically high-intensity light in the melanopic cyan region of the spectrum (around 480 nm).

Spectrasol Solution: Instant Activation

If you move around in the morning under regular LED lighting that has a cyan gap in the cyan region (cyan gap), your brain does not receive a clear signal “it’s day”. Cortisol does not flush out in time and fatigue persists. Thanks to its full spectrum with a cyan component released like the sun, Spectrasol lighting delivers this signal to the body immediately and effectively. It works like the fastest and healthiest “coffee” that naturally starts your energy and vitality right from the morning.
