Healthy Light in Action: ZŠ Hostivice Has 448 New Full-Spectrum Light Fixtures

What does healthy light look like directly in a school? We demonstrated this on 8 September 2026 during a presentation at Základní škola Hostivice, where we celebrated a major step forward for the health and performance of students. The school decided to completely modernize its lighting. We carried out this successful project in 2026 in cooperation with the Veolia Energy Group, which was the general contractor for the entire modernization. In total, the school received 1,224 light fixtures, of which 448 are Spectrasol pro-cognitive full-spectrum lighting fixtures, which now benefit nearly one thousand children and 130 employees.

The school’s principal, Mgr. Michaela Rosenkranzová, described the satisfaction in an original way: “One first-grade student told me that what she likes most is when she lies on her back and looks at the lights, because they are beautiful.” Meanwhile, Hostivice Mayor Josef Juránek highlighted the long-term benefits for the city as well as the 60% energy savings: “We have to assess every major investment based on its long-term benefit for the city. In this case, we are significantly reducing the school’s operating costs. At the same time, we are improving the environment in which hundreds of Hostivice children and their teachers spend time every day.”

As Jakub Tobola, Commercial Director of the Veolia Energy Group, explained, this was by no means simply a matter of replacing old light fixtures. Both the technical solution and the schedule were adapted to the school’s specific needs. “In places where students and teachers spend the most time, we used full-spectrum lighting, which contributes to a healthier environment and better conditions for learning.” Spectrasol Technical Director Hynek Medřický concluded by explaining how our lighting faithfully imitates sunlight, thereby helping maintain attention and memory while also improving mental well-being and overall health.

During the actual tour of one of the classrooms, it was clear how significant a difference the eyes and mind perceive – from excellent light uniformity to the pleasant energy in the space. Seeing such a transformation directly in practice is incredibly energizing and exciting for us, and we look forward to more schools taking this path!
