It Lights Up… But How Does It Actually Work? We Took a Look Inside Our Lights Using X-Ray Imaging

You press the switch, and the light turns on. Bright, dim, pleasant, warm… simply light. But what happens inside the light? What determines the quality of light?

We can see what is hidden inside LED modules. When you look at a finished LED module or a printed circuit board populated with LED sources, you cannot see the most important part. Yet it is inside the connections where the lifespan and reliability of the entire lighting system are determined. Printed circuit boards not only serve to mount individual LED diodes, but also ensure their cooling and, therefore, the durability of the entire fixture—provided they are manufactured to a high standard.

That is why we use X-ray inspection in the production of our LED modules. It is the same principle known from medicine, but applied to the microscopic world of electronics. X-ray inspection allows us to look inside solder joints and verify their actual quality.

How X-ray inspection helps reveal hidden issues

Thanks to X-ray technology, we can check the uniformity of solder application, verify the correct connection of all contacts, and detect the presence of microscopic voids that could reduce cooling efficiency. At the same time, we can compare the quality of connections across the entire production batch and ensure a consistent level of workmanship.
