The notion that people leave Czech companies primarily because of low pay or a poor manager is beginning to crack. The Wellbeing Index survey, which gathered more than 9,150 ratings across 11 areas during 2025, shows average employee satisfaction at 3.24 out of 5. While pay and benefits now serve merely as a necessary foundation, the key reasons for leaving are increasingly the variety of the work itself, the team and employers’ neglect of long-term wellbeing.

This trend is also visibly dividing the labour market. Whereas in office-based sectors, marketing and IT, investment in the working environment is standard practice, other sectors continue to lag behind. The management of modern companies now understands well that employees’ psychological wellbeing and performance depend directly on the quality of the environment in which they spend their days. Alongside ergonomics and acoustics, this comprehensive approach to wellbeing therefore also encompasses clean air and lighting that respects human biology.

By contrast, in manual operations, production halls and logistics, workers spend hours in conditions that often fail to take their needs into account, which is reflected in their higher levels of frustration. Yet it is precisely there that investing in the working environment makes the most sense.

A high-quality working environment and elements such as pro-cognitive lighting, which supports concentration and reduces fatigue and error rates, need to be considered everywhere (ideally as early as the design documentation stage), whether in the office or on the production line. It always pays off: companies benefit not only from better survey results but, above all, from stable and satisfied teams.
