Prague welcomed the icons of chronobiology, and Spectrasol was there.

Last week, the most significant conference in the field of chronobiology took place in Prague, organized by the global Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms (SLTBR).

At the beginning of the conference, it was mentioned that, compared to our ancestors, we are capable of functioning 24/7, which is partly related to the overuse of electric light. Its unnatural properties expose us to significant challenges regarding its effects on the body, health, and life. It was also repeatedly emphasized that the spectral composition of light is crucial in its biological effects. Our hearts are still full of impressions from personal meetings and sharing with the leading figures and icons of chronobiology, both from the Czech Republic – led by Prof. Helena Illnerová – and from around the world: Prof. George C. Brainard (USA), Prof. Christian Cajochen (CH), Prof. Manuel Spitschan (D), Prof. Satchin Panda (USA), and others.

We received much recognition for our work. For example, Prof. George C. Brainard, the most cited author and an icon of global chronobiology from Jefferson University, after demonstrating our light source, which we measured together with a spectrometer, was asked what he thought about applying such lighting in schools and offices in the Czech Republic. He simply said, “With this spectrum and melanopic values… just amazing!”

We deeply appreciate the exceptional opportunity to present the results of our work at such a prestigious forum. Dr. Lenka Maierová (Czech Technical University) and Dr. Jana Kopřivová (National Institute of Mental Health) introduced the participants to the excellent results of testing Spectrasol technology in phototherapeutic devices for the treatment of psychiatric diseases. We hope that our phototherapy pavilion and suitcase will soon become a standard part of the equipment in healthcare facilities specializing in mental health issues.

At the same time, during the conference break, we organized a visit to the General University Hospital with several personalities, including Prof. Satchin Panda. There, we recently implemented a world-unique biodynamic lighting project, and the enthusiasm for our joint work with ČVUT UCEEB was openly expressed.
