Quattro Formaggi? No! Quattro Modulare!

23.09.2024 | 10 minutes of reading | Spectrasol

On Tuesday, 17 September, the new modular classroom Quattro Modulare was inaugurated in the Italian Building of the University of Economics in Prague, Žižkov. We pay attention to this event because the equipment of this super modern classroom includes Spectrasol procognitive LED lighting.

The symbolic red ribbon was cut jointly by the Rector of University of Economics Petr Dvořák, the Vice-Rector for Development and Corporate Relations Ota Novotný and Aneta Mináčová from the Ministry of Education, which made a significant contribution to the investment in the project totalling CZK 13 million. Daniel Jesenský, Managing Director, was present on behalf of Spectrasol.

“The classroom is primarily designed for professional programmes, for teaching interactive subjects and for executive education at the University of Economics. It will also be a modern and variable facility for various events, such as hackathons and workshops”, explained Vice-Rector Novotný, the main driving force behind the creation of the premises.

The new classroom was created by rebuilding the original cafeteria. Because of the shadow cast into the premises by the surrounding buildings, the space places stringent requirements for lighting. Therefore, the client required full-spectrum electric lighting as similar to natural light as possible and insisted that the intensity be controllable and able to be set according to teacher preference and type of teaching. The general contractor chose our luminaires for the project.

“We are very pleased to have been able to collaborate on this project, as we consider education to be one of the priority areas that really ‘deserves’ procognitive light”, says Dan Jesenský, CEO of Spectrasol, adding: “On a surface area of 200 m2, 120 IBP A luminaires are used, the intensity of which can be controlled in each sector as required. Students and teachers will soon notice the positive effect of light on their academic performance, work and overall well-being”.

The classroom design was developed in close collaboration with students and teachers so that it meets all their needs. The classroom is flexible: within 45 minutes it can be transformed into a theatre-like setting for lectures, or into a small space suitable for undisturbed teamwork, for example, including the conversion of the main and additional digital displays. For the time being, the classroom is being operated in trial mode so that all the details can be fine-tuned based on feedback from those who use it. The University of Economics expects it to be fully operational from the summer semester 2025.

For those who are curious: Why the name ‘Quattro Modulare’? Located in the Italian Building, the classroom has 4 modules and it has replaced the former staff cafeteria, famous for its Quattro Formaggi pizza.
