About the client
The Pediatric Clinic of the University Hospital Hradec Králové provides comprehensive care for critically ill children. The intensive care unit is located in an older building from the 1950s, where a long-term lack of quality lighting affected both staff comfort and patient psyche. Together with the Archa Chantal Foundation and interior designer Petra Komjati, the clinic strives to humanize the environment to support the treatment and well-being of young patients.
Problem or challenge description
The intensive care unit environment was dark and enclosed, which increased eye fatigue, mental strain, and the difficulty of the staff’s work. Insufficient lighting affected the vitality and overall well-being of both children and healthcare professionals. The goal was to replace unnatural light with technology that respects and supports the biorhythms of young patients and healthcare workers, and to create a visually pleasant environment.

Solution
Spectrasol procognitive full-spectrum lighting was installed, which spectrally approaches daylight and is gentle on the child’s organism. Procognitive LED luminaires INO PRO-WORK M 1300×200, INO PRO-WORK L, and IBP PRO-WORK C 1200×300 were supplied.
