Client: Terezín Primary School
Field of activity: Education
Client
Terezín Primary School is a modern educational institution that has long been committed to creating a high-quality and healthy environment for its students and teachers. In addition to standard classrooms, the school building includes specialized classrooms, a computer lab, an after-school club, and a library. The school actively seeks innovative solutions to support academic performance, comfort, health, visual functions, and the overall classroom atmosphere.
Project Description
The school environment places high demands on lighting quality, which has a significant impact not only on visual comfort and health, but also on cognitive performance, concentration, alertness, and the overall mental well-being of both students and teachers.
The original fluorescent lighting was inadequate – lights flickered (flicker effect), had an unpleasant color tone, and created an overall uncomfortable learning environment. Long-term exposure to such lighting typically leads to reduced vitality, eye strain, poorer concentration, and worse academic performance for both students and teachers.
Project Objectives
- Create a high-quality lighting environment as close to natural conditions as possible, supporting concentration, academic performance, and overall well-being of students and teachers
- Align artificial lighting properties with natural daylight
- Reduce the school’s energy consumption
Solution and Technology
More than 500 full-spectrum luminaires Spectrasol INO-SCHOOL were installed throughout the school building. The installation was carried out as part of a comprehensive EPC energy-saving project in cooperation with the general contractor NEPRO stavební a.s. The project was financed within the EPC model through subsidies and generated energy savings, with minimal investment required from the client.
Main Results
The implementation significantly improved the quality of the lighting environment in the school. The new LED pro-cognitive lighting, with properties close to natural daylight, positively affects concentration, increases visual comfort, and contributes to a more pleasant overall classroom atmosphere.
Client Feedback
“Children spend up to a third of their day in classrooms, so the installation was not only about savings, but also about comfort, health, and a better environment for both students and teachers.”
– Aleš Lepič, Deputy Mayor of Terezín
“The goal was to make work easier and healthier for our students and teachers. The lighting is stronger and better, and thanks to that, visibility is excellent throughout the entire classroom. Under the new lighting, both teaching and learning have improved.”
– Štěpánka Šnajdrová, Principal of Terezín Primary School
“It’s a pleasant improvement for this school. The lights are significantly better, and for me it’s great.”
– Filip Š., student at Terezín Primary School
