The Spectrasol press conference presenting the research Czechs and Light opened the topic of light and life energy.

At Spectrasol, we have focused on healthy lighting for eight years (and our founder Hynek Medřický even longer). We know that scientists, global authorities, and even many countries pay close attention to the role of light in human health and energy. But what about the Czech public? This was the question we explored together with the research agency Perfect Crowd. The results of the study Czechs and Light, conducted on selected target groups at the end of 2025, were presented to journalists at a press conference on January 28, 2026, at Green Table in Prague. Spoiler alert: the Czech public is not doing well.

The event was opened by Hynek Medřický, who presented the concept of pro-cognitive lighting and explained the importance of daylight for the proper functioning of the circadian rhythm. He also highlighted that our inadequate light hygiene (too little light during the day, too much inappropriate light in the evening and at night) and common artificial lighting do not respect our biological needs. This has long-term negative effects not only on vision, but also on concentration, energy, sleep quality, and overall health.

The main point of the program was the presentation of the study Czechs and Light, conducted by Perfect Crowd on a sample of 678 respondents. The results showed that people are very aware of the impact of light on their health, vitality, and performance, and they strongly perceive problems associated with poor-quality artificial lighting. The study also showed that the more time we spend under poor artificial light, the more problems we experience. Respondents most frequently mentioned vision problems, headaches, fatigue, and irritability. From this perspective, the most at-risk groups are healthcare workers and students, as they spend the most time under artificial light. Healthcare workers during long shifts in demanding care roles, and students during frequent night study sessions.

The bad news is that, although we know what is harmful to us, we underestimate solutions for lighting around us and do not yet include them among our personal health priorities. In addition, respondents consider the topic complex, which discourages them from seeking solutions.

The good news: the sample included people with experience of healthy lighting, and these experiences are very positive, including:

  • 86% of respondents felt less eye fatigue
  • 79% of respondents reported a better mood
  • 76% of respondents felt more focused and productive

Finally, Daniel Jesenský, CEO of Spectrasol, emphasized that full-spectrum lighting is not only a technological solution, but also a change in our approach to light as a basic human need, with enormous potential to improve life.

We thank all speakers, guests, and media for their participation and for helping to open and spread the topic, which has a significant impact not only on individual health and well-being, but also on the functioning of society as a whole.

Tip: The Green Table by Veolia in Prague Florentin is not only a great modern multifunctional coworking space with a top vegetarian restaurant, but also a space illuminated by Spectrasol full-spectrum LED technology. So if you want to experience artificial light almost identical to sunlight and its effects on circadian rhythms, you know where to go.
