Daylight levels were found to be significantly and positively associated with better performance on tests of mental function and attention.
In the first study it was confirmed that increasing the level of daylight led to a 13% improvement in performance on the ânumbers backwardsâ test. The results of the second study confirmed the link between poor levels of daylight and reduced performance of call centre staff.
Better visibility, and associated better access to sunlight, was linked to better performance of office workers
Call centre workers handled calls 6 to 12% faster if they had a view outside than those who did not. Cognitive function and memory have been found to improve by 10-25% in office workers with a view. Conversely, increased fatigue was correlated with lack of view of the window.
